PALMIRA ABELLO


She was born in Madrid. She moved to Torremolinos in the 1970 s where she had developed an Impressionist-style work, with some Expressionist and Magical Realism touches.


Her paintings are usually portraits, seascapes and flowers.


In her work is constantly inspired by artists like Modigliani and Goya and Modernist painters, sometimes unconsciously, which she uses to look into the most vital issues they treated in art.


She met the Armstrongs in the 1970 s and has had a close friendship with them ever since.


HAMILTON REED ARMSTRONG



He was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. He lived in Spain with his wife bewtween 1964 and 1980, artist Roxolana Luczakowsky. The couple and their children live in Churriana, Malaga, in the house that belonged to Gerald Brenam.


His work is very much inspired by religious sculpture, specially small sculptures such as Dolorosa and Saint Francis of Assis,and larger ones for public areas.


In Malaga, there are outstanding works like those of Solomon Ibn Gabirol, Malaga from 1969, and Ibn Al-Baytar, Benalmandena-born botanist, from 2004; Ángel de la Muerte, Benalmadena international cemetery, from 1971; San Miguel, parich church of San Miguel, in Torremolinos, 1968; and Las Puertas del Credo, in the parish church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, Fuengirola, 1976.
