This Canadian film takes us to a tiny village that used to live on fishing and nowadays survives thanks to social benefits. There live different people whose dream is to have their own factory. In order to get it, they must meet a series of requirements. One of them is to have a resident doctor in the island.  The whole village then tries to get a doctor and prepares a situation so that the doctor loves the place and decides to stay there for ever.
                
’ La grande séduction’ is a sub-genre that independent North American cinema is tired of exploiting. But it does it awkwardly, as it uses all clichés that they thought they had overcome. With a comedy  tone, this film shows the difficulties of a small forgotten island community. Its inhabitants, its geography, its history are elements that create a gallery full of sensibility from a retrograde point of view.
