Joaquin Rivero colection

Location : Centro de Exposiciones

The exhibition shows part of the important collection of Joaquín Rivero, 31 paintings to be more exact, that represent Spanish 19th century art, with some incursions in the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 20th one. Religious painting, landscapes and  portraits are the themes of this exhibition where works by  Francisco de Goya, Salvador Maella, Mariano Fortuny, Francisco Pradilla, Carlos Haes, José Villegas and José Jiménez Aranda, will be exhibited, among others.

Joaquín Rivero collection was started in the 1980’s and since then, Joaquín Rivero has been purchasing works from the great Spanish art movements such as the Gothic and its Hispanic-Flemish version, the late Renaissance and the peculiar adaptation of the Italian influence that some Spanish authors made, the development of still lives, which in the new Naturalism includes works by artists such as  Camprobín, Hiepes and Zurbarán, and Spanish Baroque, as well as Goya’s 18th century, and 19th century modern painting. The last one is full of contemporary artistic movements but really different from each other such the Romanticism version of Alenza and Eugenio Lucas, Haes’ new landscape idea, taubleatin by Domingo Marqués and the folk style of the amazing and personal works by Gonzalo Bilbao, Villegas and Fortuny.
