FRIENDS OF HISTORY. The Tutankhamun of America: The Lord of Sipán and the Moche Culture
5:30 p.m.
In the humble town of Sipán, Peru, a surprising discovery was made in the late 1980s: an intact site from a pre-Inca culture. The tomb, filled with treasures, recalled archaeology's most famous discovery, and the nickname 'Tutankhamun of America' ??soon became popular for the newly discovered Lord of Sipán.
Through this and other discoveries in the area, it was possible to begin to reconstruct the history of the Moche culture, which still surprises today with its refinement and skill.
